Parks and Pathways

Factory Shoals Park has a new 18-hole Disc Golf Course along the Alcovy River. Each hole has two tee boxes and two baskets to choose from; ideal for all levels of play. Renovated picnic pavilions are available, and Newton County Fire Services also provides life vests in the summertime at the riverside.

Turner Lake has a covered picnic pavilion by the water – perfect for takeout or a board game! The ADA-accessible fishing pier is being repainted at the end of summer as it’s a popular place to cast a line and enjoy the breeze.

Cricket Frog Trail is a 14-mile paved rail trail running through central Newton County. The trail is expected to expand in the future, creating connections to neighboring trails and communities.

Legion Field is legendary for free Live at Legion concerts. Dance and sing along with Ultimate Garth on Sep. 18 and Evolution of Beyonce on Oct. 9.

City Pond Park features an accessible rubberized baseball field with flush bases, creating a safer and more enjoyable experience for players with mobility challenges. Miracle League baseball helps all players achieve their dream of stepping up to the plate. And you can cheer on the action!

Newton County Therapeutic Recreation offers adaptive basketball and kickball between fall and spring Miracle League baseball seasons, giving athletes more opportunities for engagement and friendships. The therapeutic program also offers monthly fitness classes, game nights, dance parties, and arts classes.

Check out the new accessible playground at City Pond Park! It features a zipline for special needs children and a Bankshot™ Court as a destination for creative and cooperative play. It’s like a basketball court with 10 goals of varying heights.

Bringing kids of all abilities together, the new We-Go-Round® is accessible by wheelchair and can be turned from inside or outside so everyone can participate in the fun.
